I'm so thankful to have had her in my life.
I'm so thankful she is free from that hardship and went peacefully towards those she loves who have passed before her. She always worried about being alone when Uncle George had his second heart attack and it was a shock to see such a vibrant, beautiful, graceful and healthy woman experience the terrible health condition that plagued her, yet she still had a twinkle in her eye and was 100% aware of all around her until the past several years. We went often with my mom (Ellen) and Aunt Ingrid even shopping for my wedding dress together and sharing humour and advice during my first pregnancy. She loved shopping and dining in Toronto (Cheese blintzes and cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches were her favourite). Sunday visits to Opa and Elli's in Baldwin, meeting to walk the dogs in the park that was minutes from Mom's, macaroni and cheese on school lunch at the big wooden table, on Golf Club road house and in teenage years she was so supportive and easy to talk to and was the "hip" younger sister I could share all my boy crush stories with. Ingrid was a popular, active member at the retirement community in Florida, an avid tennis player, she loved walking the beach and watching the sunsets. After retirement they enjoyed many winters in Fort Myers and summers in Peterborough. A dedicated, loving and caring mother and wife, Ingrid and George enjoyed many well-deserved vacations to the south after the children were raised. At the age of 14, Ingrid was one of Toronto's fastest sprinters in her age category. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany on January 13, 1940, Ingrid emigrated to Canada with her family to Toronto where she later met her future husband George. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep.
